The first meeting of the project “Multisport Academy” in the framework of European Week of Sport was held in Rome with great interest. An eight-member Olympiacos delegation attended the meetings organized by the coordinator Lazio in the Italian capital from 23 September to 27 September.
The first meeting was held at the rowing club of Lazio where the President, Mr. Antonio Buccioni welcomed the clubs’ representatives. On the second day, the participants visited the facilities of the Italian Paralympic Committee where they attended the finals of the European Football Championship for Blinds. In addition to the matches, the delegations toured the volleyball and swimming facilities, discussing about the services that the Italian sport system provide to Athletes with disabilities. Moreover, the partners visited the rehabilitation centre of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Department of the Physical Education in the University where they were informed about the sport educational programs and guided to its sport facilities.
Team representatives also participated in the action of the Lazio Bowling for people with intellectual disabilities under the project "Sports For Different Heroes" which Olympiacos leads and coordinates. Finally, the five-day visit ended with a meeting to review the actions and plan the next ones. The next meeting will be organizes in Belgrade by the Red Star on 12-15 December. During the stay in the Italian capital, the “Red’’ representatives had the opportunity to discuss with the other clubs’ ones on practical issues showing the club leading role in the European sport initiatives.
