Theodorakakis Leonidas
Leonidas Theodorakakis was born in Piraeus on 9 September 1929 and grew up in Piraeus. In 1963, he became an associate member and in 1964, a manager of the Swimming department and then Deputy Manager. In 1967, he was elected a member of the ‘’100 Immortal’’ and in the same year, he joined the Board of Directors of Olympiacos as the Manager of the Swimming Department (swimming, water polo and diving). On 4 December 1970, he also undertakes the role of the Head of Football Department and then, that of Financial Manager until September 1975 after an election of a new administration. In 1976, he was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Football Federation. In 1977, he returned to the Board of Directors of Olympiacos as Vice President, General Chief and Head of the Football department until November 1979 when the club has been taken over by the ship-owners with Stavros Daifas being the President. During the period, the club won 3 Greek Championships and 3 Cups. In 1980, he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Football Federation, where he continued to be elected Vice President and Chairman of various Committees, a member of the Technical Committee and a Director of the National teams until September 1990. Since 1992 to 2001, he was a member of the administration of the Greek basketball League. In 1987, he was General Secretary of DEKAB until September 1990. In July 1990, he returned to Olympiacos and remained President until 2008, Manager of the volleyball team and member Olympiacos FC and BC administrations until 2009. Since 1991, he won 13 championships, 11 cups and a Champions League in men’s water polo, 9 championships, 7 Cups and a Top Teams Cup in men’s volleyball, many championships in Swimming. Also, he has won many championships in other sport departments of Olympiacos. During these years, he was also the President of the most General Assemblies. In 2008, the Club Administration declared him as Honorary President of Olympiacos, a title with which he continues to participate in the General Assemblies. On 1 December 2011, he undertook the club so as to find solutions to the financial problems and approach personalities that could assist the club to overcome the difficulties contributing to the completion of the team’s obligations and the winning of the most titles.
