Olympiacos S.F.P. Stands by Breast Cancer Survivors through the EmpowerHer Initiative
As part of the European project EmpowerHer, Olympiacos S.F.P. organized a special event on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, dedicated to supporting recovery and improving quality of life after breast cancer treatment.
A key national partner and scientific advisor to the project in Greece is the REA Maternity Hospital, which brings valuable expertise in the care and support of women recovering from breast cancer.
The event focused on topics related to life after treatment, the promotion of physical activity, and the need for emotional and social empowerment. Through an interactive discussion format, various challenges and opportunities were highlighted, reflecting the complexity of transitioning into a balanced and active post-treatment lifestyle.
Special emphasis was placed on the next steps in collaboration with REA Maternity Hospital, aiming to link EmpowerHer with the broader healthcare system and strengthen survivorship care through integrated, multidisciplinary services.
As part of the event, participants were also introduced to a pilot version of the EmpowerHer digital app, currently in development. The app is designed to offer accessible guidance, personalized support, and tools for empowerment during the recovery journey, leveraging user-friendly technology to bridge gaps in care.
This activity is part of EmpowerHer’s broader strategy for the co-creation of rehabilitation tools and services, grounded in the real needs and lived experiences of the target group, and aiming to create sustainable, user-informed solutions across Europe.
EmpowerHer is implemented by six organizations from Spain, Greece, Poland, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Belgium, with co-funding from the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport programme. The EmpowerHer app and training programme are expected to enter the pilot phase in 2026, placing innovation and empathy at the heart of modern survivorship care.
