A defeat in France!

 

After the qualification to the round of ‘’32’’ in the CEV Challenge Cup, the women’s volleyball team was defeated by Volero Le Cannet (3-0) in the first match held in France. Now, the ‘’Reds’’ will fight for the qualification in the rematch on Tuesday (27/11) having the support of their fans. 

The first set was balanced with Olympiacos leading with 7-5. Volero overturned the score and went ahead with 18-15 but the ‘’Reds’’ replied with a 3-0 run. They held the French team to a draw (24-24) but finally, the hosts won the set with 27-25. In the second set, Volero kept the lead getting it with 25-17. The ‘’Reds’’ were close to the score at the beginning of the third one (10-10) but Volero did a 14-0 run and although, they reduced to 24-14, lost the set and the game. Hippe was the top scorer with 14 points.

Statements: 

The Head Coach, Branko Kovacevic stated at olympiacossfp.gr: ‘’For one and half sets, we played better than the previous matches and did the best performance in the season until now. However, this wasn’t enough to get a positive result. We missed lots of opportunities to overturn and win the game. The difference between the two teams isn’t as large as the final score shows. Hope that the rematch at our home will be different. We are expecting the fans support so as to fight for the qualification’’.
